What is the role?

As a Configuration Management Specialist, you will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining robust configuration management processes and systems, a role critical to ensuring the integrity and traceability of our products and documentation throughout their lifecycle. You will be tasked with managing document management, version control, and supporting programs for documentation and Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in configuration management within a high-tech industry and a clear passion for the space sector.

Some of your daily tasks will include:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s configuration management plan, policies, and procedures
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of product and document configuration, from initial design to final delivery and in-orbit operations
  • Manage and control all configuration items, including hardware, software, and associated documentation, with a distinct focus on outward document
  • Establish and manage a centralized document management system, ensuring proper version control and accessibility for all stakeholders
  • Administer and maintain configuration management tools and databases, ensuring data integrity
  • Coordinate and facilitate Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) to review and approve proposed changes to baselines
  • Manage the Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) process, ensuring that all changes are properly documented, reviewed, and implemented
  • Prepare and deliver all Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) items in accordance with contract requirements, including formatting and submission schedules with the guidance from the Program Manager
  • Liaise with program managers, engineering teams, and customers to ensure clear communication and understanding of configuration and data deliverable requirements
  • Provide training and support to all employees on configuration management processes and tools

What Do We Look For?

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Management, or a related technical field
  • Experience in a configuration management role, preferably within the aerospace, defense, or a related high-technology industry
  • Excellent organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing configuration management plans and procedures
  • Strong understanding of configuration management principles, including identification, control, status accounting, and auditing
  • Demonstrated experience with document management and version control systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

How to Stand Out:

  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Familiarity with EIA-649 industry standards for configuration management (e.g., MIL-HDBK-61)
  • Knowledge of space systems and the satellite development lifecycle or a similar technology field
  • Experience working in a start-up or scale-up environment
