What is the role? 

You will lead and mentor a diverse team of skilled System Engineers driving the design and implementation of various satellites and their subsystems. Your role will be pivotal in transforming high-level customer visions into concrete, testable features, and technical solutions. You will oversee customer communications, evaluating and negotiating technical proposals, ensuring alignment with project goals and constraints. 

We will rely on you to manage the team’s workflow, ensure effective communication between different technical groups, and uphold the highest standards in systems engineering. Your leadership will guide the team through the complexities of satellite design and mission requirements, fostering innovation and excellence. 

Some of your daily tasks will include: 

• Lead and mentor the Systems Engineering team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. 
• Oversee the design and development of nanosats and smallsats, ensuring all systems and subsystems meet project specifications. 
• Communicate effectively with customers, evaluating and negotiating technical proposals and solutions. 
• Translate high-level customer visions into detailed, testable requirements and features. 
• Ensure clear and efficient communication of technical requirements across different expertise groups. 
• Develop and maintain comprehensive system and subsystem requirements. 
• Utilize graphical representations (schematics, sequences, state diagrams) to communicate complex systems effectively. 
• Oversee the professional writing and management of technical requirements. 

What do we look for? 

• MSc or PhD degree in aerospace engineering or a similar field. 
• Work experience in a relevant field of 8+ years. 
• Proven experience in the design and development of nanosats and/or smallsats. 
• Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring engineering teams. 
• In-depth knowledge of satellite systems, including communication, power, and data handling subsystems. 
• Expertise in setting and managing technical requirements across different technical groups. 
• Understanding of UML/SysML for systems modeling. 
• Preferably experience with Atlassian tools, including Jira and Confluence.
