What is the role?
As a dedicated Export Control and Compliance Officer you will safeguard our operations and ensure adherence to complex legal frameworks. In this critical role, you will be the cornerstone of our defense and dual-use item compliance, working closely with various departments to classify items, manage licensing, and uphold regulatory standards. You will serve as the main internal authority on export control, playing a key part in mitigating risks and facilitating our international projects.
Some of your daily tasks will include:
- Identify and accurately classify products, components, software, technologies, and know-how that fall under national and international export control regulations
- Prepare and submit applications for export/import licenses, intra-EU transfers, brokering authorizations, end-user certificates (EUCs), and other necessary compliance documentation
- Maintain a comprehensive compliance register of all authorizations, licenses, export-controlled activities, technical data transfers, and issued certificates
- Monitor export-related operations, including cross-border shipments of controlled hardware, technical assistance, and software or data transfers
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable national and international export control legislation (e.g., EU Regulation 2021/821, U.S. ITAR/EAR where relevant)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for and coordinate communication with competent authorities such as the Ministry of Economy and Industry (Export Control Directorate), Ministry of Defense, and Customs Agency
- Conduct regular internal compliance checks, risk assessments, identify gaps or violations, and recommend proactive mitigation measures
- Deliver regular training and guidance to internal teams (e.g., Legal, Engineering, Procurement, Sales) on export control rules and responsibilities
- Monitor changes in applicable laws, sanctions regimes, and international agreements (e.g., Wassenaar Arrangement, MTCR), updating internal compliance procedures accordingly
- Ensure robust protection of export-controlled technical data, including proper marking, secure storage, restricted access, and encryption where needed
What Do We Look For?
- Master’s degree in Law (LL.M. or equivalent), Business Administration, etc.
- Excellent command of English, both written and verbal
- In-depth knowledge of national and EU export control regulations (specifically EU Regulation 2021/821); familiarity with U.S. ITAR/EAR regimes is a significant advantage
- At least 2 years of professional experience in regulatory compliance, export control, legal risk analysis, or licensing procedures is preferred
- Strong legal writing, documentation, and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and coordinate effectively with technical, administrative, and external teams
