  • We learn from our mistakes

We deliver, take informed risks, and evolve to achieve our goals. We compare with the best version of ourselves

What is the role?

As a Process Engineer for the production line, you will own the design, documentation, and continuous improvement of how we build satellites. You will translate today’s tribal knowledge into repeatable, well-documented processes - and keep the controls and automation that run them stable, predictable, and operator-friendly.

This is a hands-on, on-the-floor role. You will work side by side with operators, production leads, quality, design engineering, and equipment suppliers. PLC programming and HMI work remain part of the toolkit - you will still get into Siemens or Allen Bradley code when the line needs it.

Some of your daily tasks will include:

  • Design, document, and continuously improve the manufacturing processes on our new semi-automated satellite production line
  • Author and maintain the documentation that turns unstandardized assembly into a repeatable process: SOPs, work instructions, process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans, and routing documents
  • Define cycle times, takt times, station layouts, and material flow; balance the line, identify bottlenecks, and drive measurable throughput and yield improvements
  • Configure, program, and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar) for stations, conveyors, and integrated tools such as automated screwdrivers and vision systems
  • Plan and coordinate with subsuppliers on equipment specification, commissioning, integration, and acceptance -then take ownership of the system once it is handed over
  • Collaborate cross-functional with Production, Quality, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, and Test to align processes with product requirements, traceability needs, and quality standards
  • Lead operator training and instruction; ensure that documentation reflects how the line actually runs, not how we wish it ran
  • Drive root-cause analysis on process deviations, defects, and downtime; implement corrective and preventive actions and verify they hold
  • Support process validation and qualification and integrate the line with our MES and quality data systems for full traceability
What do we look for?
  • 3–5 years of hands-on process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment — ideally electronics, precision mechanics, aerospace, automotive, or medical devices
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Mechatronics, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, complete process documentation: SOPs, work instructions, PFMEAs, and control plans
  • Working knowledge of PLC programming and HMI configuration on platforms such as Siemens (TIA Portal) or Allen Bradley; comfortable reading and modifying ladder logic
  • Familiarity with MES systems and shop-floor data collection / quality record management
  • Comfort applying lean and continuous-improvement methods (5S, Kaizen, SMED, value-stream mapping) and structured problem-solving (8D, A3, fishbone, 5 Whys)
  •  Strong cross-functional communication — able to explain a process equally well to an operator, a supplier, and a design engineer
  • Fluent English
Nice to have
  • Experience with automated screwing systems and/or machine-vision / camera inspection
  • Experience standing up a new production line or transitioning from manual to semi-automated assembly
  • Exposure to AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality management systems
  • Knowledge of robotics integration, traceability systems, or test automation
  • Prior experience in space, aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability industries
