What is the role?

As a Junior Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS) Engineer within our Space Services division, you will contribute directly to mission success and play a key role in supporting customer interactions. You will work on spacecraft simulations, mission design, and AOCS component selection, while also collaborating with internal teams and external partners.

Some of your daily tasks will include:

  • AOCS Simulations and Mission Analysis:
    • Conduct AOCS Simulations
    • Perform AOCS mission analysis to optimize spacecraft operations and mission planning
  • AOCS Configuration Management: 
    • Work closely with system engineers, AOCS and Data Handling teams to develop, maintain and validate configurations and integrate them into the overall satellite architecture
  • Mission AOCS Design:
    • Participate in the design of AOCS for missions, engaging in collaborative design sessions with stakeholders.
    • Utilize simulations to verify that mission requirements are met and validate overall system performance.
    • Document and report on the verification process, highlighting any discrepancies and recommended actions.
  • Component Selection:
    • Identify and evaluate off-the-shelf AOCS components to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
    • Coordinate with suppliers to procure the necessary AOCS components with the mission-specific configuration.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration and Customer Engagement:
    • Act as one of the points of contact for all AOCS requirements within the project teams, including Mission Operators and AIT team.
    • Clarify EnduroSat’s AOCS design with the Customer, ensuring alignment with their mission objectives and addressing any questions or concerns.

What do we look for?

  • A degree in aerospace engineering, controls/robotics, electrical engineering, applied physics, or related field
  • Fundamental knowledge of AOCS principles
  • Understanding of orbital mechanics and propulsion
  • Familiarity with sensors, actuators, and their working principles
  • Experience with modeling and analysis (in e.g., Python, C#)
  • Understanding of requirements flow-down and reading Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders

How to Stand Out:

  • Proven problem-solving skills demonstrated in academic or project work
  • A strong tooling mindset: building reusable libraries, telemetry dashboards, or documentation templates that scale across missions
  • Enthusiasm for space systems and eagerness to grow into broader responsibilities.
  • Experience with simulation tool development (e.g., Python, C#)
  • Familiarity with STK, GMAT, FreeFlyer, or Orekit
  • Experience using Git
