What is the role?

In this position, you will harness your expertise to identify potential risks, design testing protocols, and collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers. Your strategies will contribute to the dependability and success of our satellite missions, enabling research, communications, and navigation capabilities.

Some of your daily tasks will include:
  • Develop and implement reliability testing strategies for satellite hardware components
  • Conduct stress screening, environmental assessments, and lead failure analyses to ensure that satellite hardware meets required reliability and performance criteria
  • Analyze designs and test results to identify potential failure modes and develop mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to integrate design for reliability best practices
  • Serve as a key stakeholder in the review and approval of design releases
  • Engage in design reviews and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) to assess potential reliability issues
  • Support investigation of manufacturing non-conformances and field hardware failures to identify root causes
  • Develop and recommend corrective actions to address identified reliability issues
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of failure analyses and reliability assessments
  • Propose and implement process improvements to drive improvements in reliability throughout the program
  • Utilize reliability modeling and simulation tools to predict hardware performance and lifespan
  • Develop and maintain reliability prediction models and databases
  • Deliver customer-facing reliability reports and defend the performed analysis & assumptions in front of customer Product Assurance teams
Required qualifications:
  • Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in environmental testing, including temperature cycling, vibration, highly accelerated limit testing (HALT), and highly-accelerated stress screening (HASS)
  • Familiarity with PCB fabrication and SMT
